Cheesy Canva Mockup
Cheesy Canva Mockup

Been working a lot on non-writing stuff as well. Having a small business requires doing a ton of things that you don't normally want to do, like website set-up! It takes me away from writing on the next book, but I know its something I have to do if I want to keep you all informed of what is going on.

A recent great Instagram reel my wife sent me recently talks about how running a successful creative business is 60% creative, 30% marketing, and 10% admin. If you know of others on social media spreading this kind of sage advice on creative businesses, please share it with me! You are connected with me on Facebook, Instragram, and/or Bluesky, right? Links are in the header and footer of the page if not. While I am certainly not in those ratios yet, I can aspire to that. When I was writing the core rulebook it was 95% creative, 5% marketing (social media). Right now with business set up stuff and the like it hits more like 20% creative, 40% marketing (setting up websites are time consuming) and 40% admin.

Fairly certain that will balance out more next month as the admin stuff will slack way off, and the writing will pick up. More on what I'll be writing on in another post soon!

A few big (admin) changes: This website. Duh. But you are here, you know about that. Patreon is going on hiatus. Not going to be posting there other than to announce this site once the newsletter is set up. Newsletter is coming. Mostly for those people that will not be watching this space and want me to toss them an update each month about what is going on in the lands of Eragion (and someday beyond!).

Also, want to give a shout out to Wix (no sponsorship). Their new Wix Studio editor is pretty frickin' rad for creating response websites. I did a bunch of digging before deciding to jump from Wordpress to Wix, and it was the responsive features of the new Wix Studio that finally convinced me (plus a few other bits that I wanted they provide, but I digress).
